We continue building the legacy with scholarships and events that are
planned for the benefit and enjoyment of the Chicano Alumni
membership. If you are interested in joining one or more of our
committees, please contact us! Everyone is welcome!

Chicano Alumni Scholarship Banquet a Great Success!
On behalf of the Chicano Alumni Board of Directors, thank you to the
sponsors, attendees, volunteers and banquet committee, for making
our first scholarship banquet a resounding success!
The gala event proceeds will raise scholarship funds for Fresno
State students and help establish an endowment for annual
scholarships. Students, who have been involved in community service,
while maintaining academic excellence, will be eligible to apply for
the scholarships.
The theme for the banquet was "Noche Habanera" (Havana Nights.
Guests were treated to an environment of "Old Habana", an exciting
silent auction, a great tropical accented meal, and a highly
energetic, versatile, dinner performance show, direct from Miami
Florida, by Los Mora Arriaga. Following the unique Mora Arriaga,
guests danced the night away to salsa and cumbia music as they
captured the rhythm of the night.

Tailgate Photos
Cinco de Mayo Celebration
Chicano Alumni gather at the Smittcamp Alumni House to celebrate the
Cinco de Mayo Mexican holiday. Recognition is given to Chicano/Latino
Deans Medalist recipients and alumni are treated to traditional
mariachi music, “antojitos” and a festive campus atmosphere!

Los Ninos Holiday Festival (December 10, 2005)
The Los Ninos Holiday Festival promotes literacy in the family as
children from local foster agencies are treated to a day of holiday
fun. Each child takes home a book or two, a picture of them with Santa
Claus, piñata candy, and enjoys a tasty a burrito lunch. As a special
bonus, master storyteller, Juan Felipe Herrera, performs a special
reading of one of his popular children’s books that the children and
their foster parents participate in!

Tailgate Fiestas!
Football tailgates were held for all but one of the five home football
games this year. Great entertainment featured Mariachi Garibaldi and
the popular band "New Drink". Great fun was had by all with many
great give-a-ways thanks to our Tailgate sponsor - Chukchansi
Gold Resort and tailgate partner Budweiser (Donaghy Sales)!
Chicano Alumni Scholarship Banquet (April 22, 2005)
The Chicano Alumni Scholarship Banquet is the signature event of the
organization. Community service is the emphasis of the scholarship
awards and the theme of the evening program is "Noche Habanera" (Habana
Nights). Enjoy a fine dinner, entertaining program, great social
interchange, and a fun time, all in the spirit and ambiance of 'Old
Habana!. Support scholarship opportunities for deserving Fresno
State students!
